Adey Abate
Executive Director

Adey Abate has served as the Executive Director of CURE Ethiopia since September 2007. She was integral in opening the hospital and overseeing its operations since the facility’s first surgery in January 2009.

Adey is originally from Ethiopia but moved to the United States during high school. She moved back to her birthplace to serve with CURE in Addis Ababa. Adey is very grateful for the opportunity to give back to her birthplace and be part of CURE’s mission. Her experiences before joining CURE and returning to Ethiopia include roles at The Boeing Company, both on the Commercial and Defense programs, her last position being a subcontract manager for the Missile Defense Program at Boeing. She also worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, one of the largest US federal government contractors, as a senior consultant. Adey has a Master’s Degree from Seattle University.

Adey enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures. She also enjoys the outdoors and sports. She is an avid tennis player and played competitively both in high school and college.

Dr. Timothy Nunn
Medical Director

Dr. Timothy Nunn serves as the Medical Director at CURE Ethiopia where he manages the day-to-day operations of surgery and treatment for patients at the hospital.

Dr. Timothy Nunn completed a biblical and intercultural studies course at All Nations Christian College. He trained in Yorkshire, United Kingdom, and completed fellowships in Sheffield, United Kingdom, where he worked as a pediatric orthopedic consultant. Dr. Nunn also worked in South Africa and Kenya before coming to Ethiopia.

He is passionate about helping the most vulnerable children in low-income countries by sharing his skills and knowledge to build the national orthopedic surgical capacity while also sharing the gospel in deed and word.

He and his wife, Rachel, who works as a general practitioner, have three children, Matt, Beka, and Joel. Outside of work, Nunn enjoys working in his tool shed and fishing.

Dr. Seblewongel Asrat
Counseling Director

Dr. Seble serves as Counseling Director at CURE Ethiopia, where she equips and supports the couseling team and ministers to patients, their families, and coworkers. She is also involved in community engagement, facilitating conversations and training on the Theology of Disability and working with local churches to identify more children who need medical care.

Dr. Seble holds a PhD in educational studies from Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL, an MA in child development from Daystar University in Kenya, a BA in counseling from Evangelical Theological College in Addis Ababa, and a diploma in statistics from Addis Ababa University. She is certified as a Human Systems Dynamics professional and is also an Mcode professional coach. Additionally, she has completed a certificate in mentor coaching and holds a certification as a management consultant from the Ethiopian Management Institute.

Before joining CURE Ethiopia, Dr. Seble led the MA in Holistic Child Development program at Evangelical Theological College. As a volunteer, she has participated in a think tank group on multidisciplinary education with the Ministry of Education. She also leads programs at the Personal and Organizational Progress Training Center. Internationally, she serves on the Strategy Team for the Global Children’s Forum and the Children and Family Network within the Lausanne Movement. Locally, she acts as a board chair and a member of various NGOs and a foundation. Previously, she worked with Compassion International in both Ethiopia and Kenya.

Outside of work. Dr. Seble enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, reading books, engaging with neighborhood community members, and traveling. She has a daughter, Kalkidan.

Debebe Leta
Program Director

Debebe has been with CURE Ethiopia since 2017, previously in the roles of Senior Monitoring and Evaluation and Government Relations Officer, and Program Manager. In his current role as Program Director, he is primarily responsible for grants acquisition and management, government relations, monitoring and evaluation, communication, and exchange programs/mobile clinics. In all of his work with CURE, he considers it a privilege to serve vulnerable populations and loves making a difference in the lives of children each day.

Before coming to CURE, Debebe served in similar roles for CARE International, World Vision, and Action Aid International. He has a Master’s in Project Planning and Management.

Debebe is married to Woinshet and is blessed with two children, Abigail and Henok.

Metasebia Mamo
HR Director

Metasebia serves as the Human Resource Director for CURE Ethiopia. She started in 2008 as an administrative assistant, and in 2011, transitioned to the role of cleft lip coordinator before becoming the human resources manager. In 2019, Metasebia was promoted to the position of human resource director. Metasebia holds a bachelor’s degree in management information systems, a postgraduate diploma in development management, and a master’s degree in human resource management.

Sara Kahsay
Nursing Director

Sara serves as the Nursing Director for CURE Ethiopia. She has been in this role since 2019. Sara has a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in maternal and child health.

Abinet Takele
Finance Director

Abinet Takele serves as the Finance Director for CURE Ethiopia. He has been in this role since 2017. He is married and a father of three, one girl and two boys.

Mahlet Teshome
Director of Facilities

Mahlet Teshome serves as the Director of Facilities at CURE Ethiopia, where she oversees operations of the maintenance and facilities department to ensure facilities align with the mission, values, and objectives of the organization.

Mahlet holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Technology and Management and a Master’s Degree in Project Management from Addis Ababa University. Her experience in the construction industry ranges from working as an office engineer for a private contractor to managing construction projects in an international donor agency. Mahlet is excited to use her skills to further the mission of CURE and help more children with treatable disabilities.

Mahlet and her husband Michael are blessed with two children, Christian and Zema. She found her love of CURE through her experience as a mother. She loves seeing children and their families filled with hope because of the medical and spiritual care at CURE.

Dr. Firaol Dandena
Quality and Patient Safety Director

Dr. Firaol Dandena is CURE Ethiopia’s Quality and Patient Safety Director & CURE Network Research Coordinator. After obtaining his medical degree in 2019, Dr. Firaol worked as the Quality and Clinical Governance Officer at a hospital in Jimma. In addition to his professional experience, Dr. Firaol has gone on to get a Masters Degree in General Public Health and publish seven research works, one of his greatest passions. At CURE Ethiopia, he’s excited to contribute to surgical research for children with disabilities and help advance treatment.

Dr. Firaol is also excited to be part of a mission hospital. He says it allows him to combine his skills and faith, which helps him work effectively and wholeheartedly. Dr. Firaol loves that CURE Ethiopia feels like a family. He is excited to spread the gospel and share Christ’s love with the patients and families he serves!
